About me
My name is Benjamin Paul. I have been designing websites since I was ten, and have been doing it professionally since I was fourteen. That means that I have had experience in the design part and the functionality part of web design.
I never use templates in my design, I do not like surfing the internet and seeing websites use the standard block of colour, stock images, and uniform look that web designers are using. Websites need to be fresh and representative of the different companies they convey. To get that freshness you do not need a designer to charge the earth, the designer needs to be willing to push boundaries in the first instance.
I design from scratch and I design firstly using image based style – it is not all code and numbers that produce a standard design. I design with what you see. What you see is then tweaked until the design is perfect to both the client and myself.
My first website was a personal project of mine which started in 2004. AucklandMotorways.co.nz tells Aucklanders about past, present and future project and has current traffic status cameras. I set up the website because I wanted to build a website that would be used heavily, a website that had influence and also to serve my passion – providing communication in its best possible form. The website is still running and grows every year. The website also gives me a chance to test my skills as a designer as around 6000 people are visiting it a day.
Following the set up of the website people have come to me to build a website for them or their company. My company, Tridium, has grown from there.
